This my music blog: what have number one hits in common?
Hi, I am Isis. I’m 13 years old and I really love music. I play a little bit of piano and guitar. I also sing and write music. In this amazing music blog, I am going to look at what number one hits have in common. I got my inspiration for this question from this amazing video: https://youtu.be/5pidokakU4I, because a lot of popular music has the same chords. I want to know what they have more in common and I want to understand this because I want to make really good music that people like. I hope you like my blog.
History of the music from 1910 to 2019.
The music changes every year a little bit. If you look back to the music years ago, the style is different than now. In this video, they show you how the music has changed from 1910 to 2019: https://youtu.be/eP88FUL7d_8. The most popular music at the moment is made with the computer. In 1910 people made music without a computer because they didn’t exist. But some things in the music didn’t change at all. So there is a small change it changes in the future.
What have number one hits in common?
The most number one hits have an easy structure and are easy to sing along. Because of that, the music stays in your head (earworm) and you remember that song. So the song becomes popular and maybe number one. Also, the title is important; one or two words work better than a whole sentence. A lot of the number one hits have the same chords or they have the same key. In the introduction, I already referred to the video with number one hits, which all consisted of four chords.
There are a lot of tricks to get a number one hit. But the most important one is luck. There are a lot of awesome songs that don’t get popular. So try many different things and make fun, maybe you have luck. Do you know the most popular artists don’t start with making music to earn their money? They just love music. And only some get a number one hit.

I like Sos from Avicii most of them all. I hope that in 2020 a lot of new amazing songs will come. My favorite music is a lot older. I love Narcotic from Liquido, All star from Smash Mouth, Wannabe from Spice Girls, Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen, Take on me from A-ha, etc. If you have time, listen to them on Spotify or Apple music. They are real classics.

Luck is also important to get a number one hit. You can have lots of talent and follow all the rules of a successful song, but it is still possible that your music doesn’t get popular. But the most important thing at all is that the people that made the number one hits, all have in common is their love for music and they do everything for their music.
